Stavanger, Norway

Arrive in the morning, Departure in the afternoon

Stavanger, a former European Capital of Culture, with a rich tapestry of history and culture waiting to be explored on your Nordic cruise. The city is heaven for culture vultures, boasting an impressive mix of museums, galleries, and events celebrating Norway’s rich heritage. The gateway to Norway’s spectacularly scenic fjordland, Stavanger is also a town with its own rich heritage as it is regarded as the 'Cradle of the Vikings'. This small city celebrates its lively heritage dating back to 872 when Viking King Harald Hårfagre founded the Kingdom of Norway in nearby Hafrsfjord. But there’s more to the Vikings than pillaging and plundering. As you’ll find out, these bearded warriors were pioneering explorers, canny traders, skilled craftsmen, and artful storytellers with a dark sense of humour.

Day

4

Olden, Norway

Arrival in the morning, Departure in the early evening

Tucked away at the southern tip of the Nordfjord, Olden is a peaceful village surrounded by some of Norway’s most breathtaking landscapes. It sits right at the gateway to the lush Oldedalen Valley, making it an ideal stop on any Fjordland cruise. The scenery here feels almost otherworldly, with towering peaks, mirror-like waters, and access to Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in mainland Europe. Trails lead to the dramatic Briksdal and Kjenndalen glaciers, where ice meets valley in stunning fashion. And just beyond lies Lake Oldevatnet, its crystal-clear surface framed by cliffs and cascading waterfalls. In every direction, nature puts on a show unfiltered, unforgettable, and deeply Norwegian.

Day

4

Innvikfjorden (cruise-by), Norway

Arrival in the early evening - CRUISING ONLY - Departure in the evening

Around the sleepy ports of Innvikfjorden, it’s hard to imagine a host of action-packed activities going on, but there is a fast, exciting side to holidaying here – should you wish to experience it! Your choice of adventures could include guided kayaking, hiking tours, driving up to panoramic viewpoints and seeing the famous Briksdal and Kjenndal glaciers. No matter what you choose, the backdrop of Norway’s scenery is sure to amaze.

Day

Flam, Norway

Arrival in the early morning, departure in the early evening

Sailing through Norway’s beautiful Sognefjord, the world's longest and deepest fjord, is one of the most memorable cruise experiences. Overlooked by snow-capped peaks and surrounded by cascading waterfalls, this is a sensational approach to the tiny village of Flam, which nestles in the innermost part of Sognefjord. But the fjord is not Flam's only claim to fame, it also has the extraordinary Flam Railway. A masterpiece of engineering, this rises more than 2,845ft above sea level in just 12 miles, and the views are just as dramatic as the journey. There are a variety of other boat and road trips which promise more fantastic scenery along with visits to farms, mines, villages and isolated mountain lodges.

Day

6

Haugesund, Norway

Arrival in the early morning, departure in the early evening

Often called the homeland of Viking kings, Haugesund is steeped in history and natural beauty. This coastal town, framed by waterfalls, fjords, and the open sea, is where Norway’s royal story began, and where you can still feel that ancient spirit in the air. Step into the past at the Nordvegen History Centre, where over 3,500 years of heritage come to life. Wander through the stories of Viking rulers, then visit St Olav’s Church, built in 1250 AD, a lasting symbol of medieval faith and power. Beside it stands the slender Virgin Mary’s Sewing Needle, one of the tallest stone monuments in the country. Just outside town in Rehaugene, you’ll find the 'Pyramids of the North', six Bronze Age burial mounds that quietly echo centuries of tradition. And when you’re ready to return to the present, Haugesund’s lively markets and the country’s longest pedestrian street offer plenty of opportunities to browse, shop, and soak up the local charm.
